The game rewarded obedience disguised as attention. Success depended on listening carefully, reacting quickly, and resisting the urge to think for yourself. Without realizing it, we learned that fitting in often meant following instructions instead of questioning them.

Long after childhood, we continue sorting through expectations, trying to decide which voices deserve our trust and which ones have simply become habit.

We stopped playing Simon Says. We never stopped obeying voices that weren't our own.
